Welcome to the Fry Fire District Board page. The fire district is governed by an elected five-person board. Citizens that reside within the fire district boundary are eligible to run for the board if they own property and have a valid voter’s card. Elections are held every two-years, with board members serving a four-year term. Board members are not compensated.

Mr. Joseph Huish, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Huish is retired from Southwest Gas Corporation, where he worked as a Regional Manager. Mr. Huish was responsible for the natural gas utility service over a large area of Nevada and Arizona. Email address for Mr. Huish; jhuish@fryfiredistrict.com
Mr. Robert McMurtrie, Board Member
Mr. McMurtrie is a local native who graduated from Tombstone High School. He served 8-years in the Air Force and then went on to become a government contractor in the field of biometric engineering while serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2013 Mr. McMurtrie transition to the Department of Army as a civilian on Fort Huachuca as the Doctrine and Policy Chief for TRADOC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is completing his Master of Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University. Eric Andersen, Board Clerk
Mr. Andersen served a thirty-five-year career with the Army as an Infantry Officer and Army Civilian. Selected assignments in SE Asia, Korea, Ft. Lewis and Yakima Firing Center WA., and National Guard Bureau, Arlington VA. Mr. Andersens last position held was Deputy Chief, Environmental Programs Division, Army National Guard in all 54 States, Territories and D.C. Mr. Andersen assisted in the development of the Army Environmental Policy. Mr. Andersen had a three-Year career with The Nature Conservancy, SE AZ Preserves Manager. A Position which was instrumental in supporting the Ramsey Canyon Firewise Program. Mr. Andersen attended Washington State University and received his B.S. in Forest Management, B.S. in Range Management. And his M.B.A. from the City University of Seattle. Mr. Norm Sturm, Board Member
Norm Sturm retired as the county emergency manager for Cochise County in 2018. Prior to working for Cochise County, he was the Director of Homeland Security & Emergency Management for DuPage County (IL) and Deputy Fire Chief of the Addison (IL) Fire District (1979-2008). Mr. Sturm holds a MS in Emergency Management and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Assoc. of Emergency Managers. He and his wife Jan live in Hereford. Mr. Tom Tucker, Board Member
Mr. Tucker is currently serving as the Fire Chief for the Tucson Airport Authority Fire Department where he is responsible for the safety of over a 3 million travelers each year. In addition to his aircraft crash rescue experience, he previously worked with the US Forest Service as a wildland firefighter and heli-tack crewmember.
