Identifying the cause and origin of fires is in important tool in preventing future fires. The fire district participates in the National Incident Fire Reporting System which gathers fire related data nationwide for use in compiling statistical information as well as identifying trends in fire causes. Accidental fire causes include human behavior, building systems in disrepair and faulty appliances. Arson is a crime that affects everyone; it cost millions of dollars each year in higher insurance rates as well as putting lives in danger. When a fire is suspected to be arson, fire district investigators work with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
The Arizona Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention, and the Arizona Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators offers rewards up to $10,000.00
